Gran City Pop is Paulina Rubio’s ninth studio album released in June 2009. For the album’s production, Paulina collaborated with songwriters and producers Mario Domm from Camila, Mónica Vélez, David Cabrera, Claudia Brants, Noel Schajris, Gianmarco, I. Padrón, Fernando Osorio, Andres Federico, Levin Wulff, Rafael Vergara and Mauricio Gasca and once again with Fernando Montesinos, Estéfano and Coti Sorokin. Also, Paulina once more participates as songwriter for the fourth ocassion on 5 of the album’s tracks: “Enséñame”, “Melodía de tu Alma”, “Más Que Amigo”, “Algo de Ti” and “A Contraluz”. Gran City Pop spawned three singles, giving Paulina her fourth number one single on Latin radio in the U.S.: “Causa y Efecto”, which also went to number one in Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Argentina. Upon its release, Gran City Pop was number one in sales in Venezuela and number two on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart as well as in Mexico. The concept of the album is an imaginary mega city where Paulina incorporates in a single vision, some of the vital and musical experiences from the last few years from various cities of the world; experiences that have marked her life forever and that she would like to share in the form of ten songs with influences that enrich this new stage of her career.
The album’s second single, “Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes” was recorded with both Jenni Rivera and Pitbull, and become another Top 10 hit for Paulina in the U.S. In 2010, a third single “Algo De Ti” was also released.
