THE STORY

Paulina Rubio is symbol of power, of change: A vibrant and unpredictable woman. She’s a hurricane of energy and sensuality. Authentic in all she sets her mind to. Her style and her music have been conjugated during the last two decades to seduce and connect with every type of audience.

More then brave, this Mexican star is considered daring and irreverent, who proposes to defend her postures. Icon of the women of her generation, her songs become treatments of freedom and passion. Nevertheless, Paulina is not close-minded nor does she engage in a battle of the sexes… She is loved equally by men and women of all ages and her music is dedicated to peace, love and to everyday experiences.

“And I love that!”. she confesses. “We must leave the stereotypes behind. We must yell out loud that we are proud Latinos; we must make an effort to do a a better job that both connects and prevails. My fusion is enescapable… I am a romantic and strong woman at the same time. My soul is Mexican, but I belong to the world and that world fills me with experiences and flavors that become present in my music.”

With an unmistakable tone of voice that is marked with success in all of Latin America. From her natal Mexico and USA to Spain, and with her music as the only standard, Paulina has become the golden girl of Spanish pop. “For me, music is like love; you kiss someone to give and receive this energy, a connection. It’s the string that conducts everything and I am trying to connect with people, people that vibrate in my same channel.” Paulina confesses.

Paulina is daughter to one of the most successful film stars in Mexico, Susana Dosamantes. Raised between Mexico, Los Angeles and Spain, her spirit of independence was instant. “My mother had to film many movies in Europe, so we had to travel with her around the world surrounded by screenwriters, architects, singers, directors…" says Paulina. "It was interesting to take my first baby steps among adults. That made me feel very comfortable and free, and it is at the age of 7 or 8 that I started to make my own decisions.”

The first personal decision that she made which would lead her to success was to take singing and dance lessons. With only 10 years of age, the brightness and security of Paulina was so evident that she was chosen to become part of a youth band called Timbiriche.

After almost a decade as part of this band, arrives her debut solo album “La Chica Dorada” (The Golden Girl). After it followed “24 Kilates” (24 Karat), “El Tiempo es Oro” (Time Is Gold) and “Planeta Paulina” (Planet Paulina). In 2000, Paulina arrived with her self-titled album “Paulina”. This album would make her known as one of the most international successful artists in Latin music and as Queen of Latin Pop by selling more then three million copies worldwide.

These extraordinary sales gave her: Three platinum albums and one diamond in Mexico, double gold and platinum albums in USA, Gold and Platinum albums in Colombia, Platinum album in Chile, and gold in Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Paulina also captivated the public from Italy and Spain, where she received double golden album and awards from “Premios Onda” and “Amigo” for Best Female Artist of the Year 2001.

Shortly after, with her debut English album she becomes known in the Anglo market.. With songs that fused rock, pop and dance with traditional Mexican rhythms, “Border Girl” demonstrates all the influences that Paulina has received during her life: R&B, flamenco guitars, mariachi and passion of a Latino heart reaching out to a heterogenous audience.

Her next production was no exception. “Pau-Latina” brought us a 'chameleon-like' and evolving artist. More mature in all the senses, but also visionary as always. “This album was like an x-ray of my growth, of my state of being and my philosophy of life...” Proud of her homeland and roots, Paulina achieved once again that fusion that mixes the international folklore with the most modern and contemporary rhythms.

“Pau-Latina was a music workshop, between many friends who understood my message. They contributed their ideas and we came up with wonderful songs like “Te Quise Tanto” of Coti”, the album's letter of presentation that placed her in #1 for several weeks in all Latin America.

“Pau-Latina” brought other great successful songs that also rose to the top of the charts consecrating her as the most successful female artist in Latin America in 2004. By way of songs like: “Te Quise Tanto”, “Algo Tienes”, “Dame Otro Tequila”, and “Mia”, Paulina placed herself as the favorite, obtaining numerous nominations and marked awards in: Premios Juventud, Premios de la Gente, Premios Tu Música, Premio Lo Nuestro and the Latin Music Billboard Awards—without saying she was the only woman nominated for Latin Pop Album of the Year at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards.

The adventures of this major artist concluded in 2005 with her intense “Pau-Latina” tour from Mexico, to Central and South America, and finally with 24 tour dates from coast to coast in USA.

“This stage was the most fun out of all, although we did leave out some countries and cities to visit.” – she added. “The sensation of having your band and to sing in front of a different audience every night is incomparable. Thanks very much to my fans, that were there from one night to the next.”

“I grew up doing concerts and I am going to die singing as well.” Paulina affirms. “It is a feeling stronger then me… the motor where I recharge my adrenaline. But truth is, the best is yet to come. I do not feel tired for anything. On the contrary, I have only but desire to go out and present my new proposals. Ananda, my new album, is like a biography and it exposes me perfectly”, she admits.

“Ananda”, the newest album, is now in stores. Paulina has been involved in each and everyone of its stages, creating, composing, sharing ideas and propositions, surrounded by friends who have shared with her their talent and energy to make this one of the best albums in Paulina Rubio’s career.
